The Banneker Track and Field team delivered an impressive performance at the Regionals on Wednesday, March 19th, held at Dutchtown High School. With numerous athletes securing top finishes, the team continues to build momentum heading into the Sectional Meet on Saturday, May 3rd, at Villa Rica High School.
Boys Highlights:
- Lamar Griffin placed 4th in the Boys 1600m
- Devon Williams secured 3rd place in the Boys 110H
- The Boys 4x1 Relay Team (Lavaris Monroe, Joshua Hayes, Jeramiah Thomas, Kelian Allen) took 2nd place
- Devon Williams finished 2nd in the Boys Long Jump to secure his spot at Sectionals.
Girls Highlights:
- Chyenne Richmond earned 4th place in Girls Shot Put
- Raniah Cherisma placed 4th in Girls Triple Jump
- Ebony Whyte took 1st place in both the Girls 100m Dash and 200m Dash
- Shalea Lastie earned 3rd place in both the Girls 100m Hurdles and 300m Hurdles
- The Girls 4x200m Relay Team (Kaniya Ward, Kyra Tyson, Jayla Stewart, Rachelle Pun) placed 4th
- The Girls 4x100m Relay Team (Kyra Tyson, Shalea Lastie, Jayla Walker, Marissa Swain) secured 2nd place
- The Girls 4x400m Relay Team (Christianah Jonas, Shalea Lastie, Jayla Walker, Chamiya Williams) placed 3rd
With several athletes securing their spots at Sectionals, the team’s hard work is paying off, and there is a lot to look forward to as they prepare for the upcoming competition at Villa Rica High School.
